Restore Files in your Payroll Software

Simplify your payroll with Elite Payroll Software

Use Restore Files to restore your company file, tax scales and reports from a backup copy—you cannot move or restore your company file files manually using Windows Explorer, or the command prompt. You will need to use the restore process if your company file becomes corrupted or if you are moving your company file to another computer.

From the File menu, choose Restore Files. The Please Select Backup File To Restore window will appear.

image\warning.gif Warning – Do not restore a backup file created in a previous version of Elite Payroll Software, Quicken Payroll Software, QuickPayroll Software or Payroll Software Premier - this could result in a corrupted data file. If your backup file was created in another version, restore it using that version, and then upgrade the restored file to your current version of Elite Payroll Software. For details, see Transferring Payroll Software data from a previous version.

Select the drive and folder where your company file backup resides. By default your company file backup is located on the A drive. If you backed up the file to another drive click on the Look In drop-down list.

To open the folder one level higher, click image\directup.gif on the toolbar.

3 A list of QPB files (also called backup files) that can be restored will be displayed.

4 Click to select the file that you wish to restore and then click Open. Alternatively, you can double-click to select the file that you wish to restore. The Restore Data Files window is displayed.

5 You can check that the file you are restoring is correct and that the destination for the file is correct on the Restore Data Files window. The FROM section should display the drive, path and file name of the company file you wish to restore.

6 The TO section should display the current data path for Elite Payroll Software, which by default is C:\Program Files\Elite Payroll Software\Data. If you wish to restore your company file to a different location, click Browse to locate the direction.

7 Click OK. If the file already exists in the destination folder, a message will be displayed asking you if you want to overwrite the file. Click Yes if you want to continue.

8 The company file will be restored. Elite Payroll Software will open the company file when the restoration is complete.
